The dog’s ear is a structure that is both delicate and powerful, and due to its exceptional capacity, it needs to be protected. Excessive wax production, combined with poor ear ventilation typical of certain breeds like poodles, can cause blockages and become an ideal environment for bacteria and yeast, leading to ear infections (otitis).
Aqua Oto is a product specifically designed for ear cleaning, useful for preventing blockages and otitis. It is an innovative solution based on polysorbates, non-ionic surfactants of plant origin widely used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and food industries. These surfactants have high solubilizing capacity, allowing gentle and efficient dissolution of wax and other oily impurities.
By removing wax, Aqua Oto provides a soothing action. The combination of allantoin, chamomile and peppermint extracts ensures prevention of itching and redness, thanks to the plant extracts of yarrow, mallow, and lemon balm, while citrus extracts provide a pleasant deodorizing effect.
For effective cleaning, the product should be applied frequently, preferably during bathing to prevent dirt residues from soiling the dog’s coat. If the hair excessively covers the ear canal, as is the case with poodles in our example, it is advisable to remove the excess hair. After taking these precautions, hold the dog’s head on the side of the ear to be cleaned, tilt it downwards, lift the ear flap to make the ear assume a vertical position, and pour Aqua Oto. Massage for a couple of minutes and, using a damp cotton pad or gauze (never a cotton swab!), gently clean the inside of the ear to remove impurities.
Aqua Oto, which can be used in conjunction with medical treatments, combines a lightweight, water-like composition with the natural centrifugal force exerted by the dog. Yes, it is our four-legged friend who, by naturally shaking itself after the application of the product, will only intensify its action.
